White blesbuck hunting in Namibia {{ totalToursString }}
White Blesbuck (Blesbok) are not endemic to Namibia. They have been introduced from South Africa and are not classified as albinos. These White Blesbuck are bred from Common Blesbuck that have a recessive gene. They have been available for hunting for many years and are listed in the SCI Record book.
White Blesbuck favour open grasslands and therefore require a long shot to harvest. In general, their trophy quality is good. Both males and females have horns making sexing difficult for amateur hunters. They are a water-dependent species and attracted to mineral licks, making for great bowhunting opportunities.
White Blesbuck have even been introduced to ranches with low cattle fences as they do not jump fences, making them a desirable game farming species. Their numbers are still very low in Namibia, so hunting opportunities are limited within the country.
White Blesbuck is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
