Cape eland hunting in Botswana {{ totalToursString }}
A Cape Eland does not have the stripes of a Livingstone Eland nor the brownish-to-black patch behind the knee. Cape Eland is duller grey compared to Livingstone Eland and only occurs in the eastern border region with Zimbabwe.
Cape Eland was originally found virtually throughout the country but is now concentrated in pockets where suitable habitat and protection from poaching is found. Mature bulls start to lose their hair and they turn grey. Outfitters refer to these bulls as Blue Bulls. Cape Eland bulls may lose some length on their horns but these huge brutes with their massive dewlap also grow an impressive brush of hair on their muzzle, making for a most impressive trophy.
Cape Eland is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, so no special permits are required for the import and export of these trophies.
