About this hunt
Our woodland Caribou hunts are great hunts that are fully one on one guided with a 100% success rate. Flights to more productive areas are also included in our price for this hunt to ensure your success. We ensure our clients success on this hunt and we will bounce them back in the same hunting year or extend their hunt if they do not harvest a caribou during their scheduled hunt. We take many record book caribou each season. The last 6 Boone and Crockett conventions we have had the biggest caribou taken for non-residents. We are the exclusive outfitter in the Bay Du Nord wilderness reserve. We have the best reputation and offerings for trophy woodland caribou in the world. Bob has over 35 years of bush flying experience in Newfoundland enabling a wealth of knowledge on where both moose and caribou reside. We have been a licensed outfitter since 1997 offering clients memories that last a lifetime. This past year we took 12 caribou that will make the all time Boone and Crockett book with the biggest scoring 374 6/8 net. This hunt is offered on a limited basis. The hunts are conducted from 12x16 wooden structured cabins or wall tents, we also have one beautiful log cabin where we offer this hunt from as well where there is hot n cold running water, a full time cook on staff. Efford’s Hunting Adventures operates hunting lodges in South Western and East Central regions in the province of Newfoundland, Canada. EHA operates its lodges in Moose and Black Bear units 18.19..27.28 37 and Within Woodland Caribou units 64 and 61. With multiple camp locations, its own aircraft and an array of Newfoundland wilderness experience EHA can offer you the best wilderness and hunting experience Newfoundland has to offer. Newfoundland boasts some of the highest moose population densities on the planet and the only huntable herd of Woodland Caribou as well as Black Bears on record of 680 lbs.. We offer both remote fly-in hunts as well as ground access hunts. All hunting lodges are of wooden construction and have all home amenities. We do however, offer various spike/tent camps for short stays and week long hunts.

Sams Pond Lodge
Nestled on scenic Sams Pond on the east coast of Newfoundland. Sams Pond Lodge is a log constructed Lodge with 1200 square feet of living space. Lodge accommodates 6 guest plus staff. Sams Pond offers outstanding Woodland Caribou hunting , great moose hunting and Black Bear. The lodge has 1 full washroom, 5 bedrooms as well as an outdoor washroom and full time chef on site at all times. Lodge is accessible by float plane or helicopter.

Island Pond Lodge
Located on a beautiful large lake with many islands, within the bay du nord wilderness reserve is Island Pond West in the interior portion of eastern Newfoundland. This rustic lodge built in the early 1980s offers 1400 square feet of living space, a rock fireplace and accommodations for 14 guests. Staff accommodations are in a separate living building adjacent to the lodge. The lodge also has 5 bedrooms, two full washrooms as well as full time chef. Island Pond is used mainly for Trophy Woodland Caribou Hunting, great Moose Hunting and fantastic Black Bear Hunting. Island Pond is also offered during summer Months for relaxing Family vacations. The lodge is accessible by float plane or helicopter.

How to get there
Guest are required to arrive in St. John’s (YYT), Deer Lake (YDF) or Gander (YQX) the day before your hunt is scheduled to start. Overnight in a hotel the day you arrive. Guests will be picked up the next morning and transported to float-plane base for early afternoon flight to camp or driven to the ground access lodge. There is a $100/person fee for St. John’s pickup. EHA will send you a trip itinerary for your hunt when you book a hunt. Driving guests hunting from Sept 13-Oct 12 will have to arrive at Peter Strides Pond which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Port Aux Basques. Driving guests hunting from Oct 13-Nov 10 will need to drive to Thorburn Lake which will take about six hours from Port aux Basques. A Newfoundland Road Map with marked locations will be sent to driving guests.
