About this hunt

Alaska is home to 80% of the brown/grizzly bears. The term grizzly bear is often used in reference to brown bears. The difference between the two is defined by the location in which they inhabit, SCI does this by game management area and B&C us the 62nd parallel. Our camp located in western Alaska is within the SCI boundaries for grizzly bears while our Peninsula area has all brown bears. We hunt for Grizzly bears out of our Western Alaska camp in both spring and fall. Our fall hunts take place September 1-10 and can be combined with moose hunting. The spring season is April 20-30 and we are hunting with snow machines and snow shoes. Fall hunts are based out of tented spike camps and the spring hunts are based from our main camp. Our biggest bears come during the spring and we have many bears in the record book from this area. Both spring and fall hunts are very low volume and very high success.

How to get there

Navigation guidelines

Fly directly from your home to Fairbanks Alaska and spend the night in the Best western hotel. The next morning (as early as possible) have breakfast and catch the hotel shuttle bus to Wrights Air Service by 7 AM to the airport. Sign up to Anaktuvuk Pass village with the secretary at Wrights Air Service. You are responsible for all charter costs to and from Anaktuvuk Pass which is about $380.00 per person, roundtrip from Fairbanks. Here we will meet you and transport you to our lodge by super cub plane. The point of outfitting is when you arrive at our main lodge. hunters will have to fly to Anchorage Alaska, here you will have to overnight, and the following morning you will fly with Lake Clark Air to the town of King Salmon. Once you arrive in King Salmon you will be met by Branch River Air, they will transport you from the airport to the float plane base located a couple miles away. Branh River Air, will fly you to our main camp. Once here we will do our final paperwork and then you will be flown out to your spike camp. We operate to float equipped aircraft during bear season, a Cessna 185 and a Piper Super Cub. Our two airplanes are for the exclusive use of our guest and are used to support our camps and to relocate camps if we need to. Western Alaska is home to our Titnuk Camp, located in the Nushagak Hills the camp sits on a ridge that separates the Nushagak drainage and the Kuskokwim drainage. Our hunting area here is over 1500 square miles and contains some of the best brown bear habitat in the area. We take 5 spring brown bear hunters and 10 hunters in the fall. Our average bear from this area averages 8ft square and has a 24in skull.

Bear Bones of a Hunt

That it was tough physically and mentally. The elements were brutal at times. The terrain was challenging and unforgiving. I like to earn what I have in life so all of this made the trophy of a lifetime after 13 days seem deserving.

It’s expensive! Not just my outfitter but any brown bear hunt is costly.
