About this hunt

The wild turkey is one of the largest species of our feathered game in Europe. We were one of the first hunting companies in Europe to have wild turkeys imported from America several years ago to groom and hunt in our hunting areas. Since our introduction of the free range wild turkey hunt in our Hunting areas, this hunt experience has become an insider tip and increasingly popular. In our hunting areas, very strong turkeys are taken annually! Meet in the morning of first day at a predetermined location, with a staff of our company. Before the start of hunting, final formalities such as hunting licenses, gun licenses, insurance, etc. are clarified and completed. A hunting guide will be at your disposal during the entire hunt and will lead you to the best possible hunting locations within in the respective hunting areas or best known and designated places. The hunt is divided into morning and afternoon hunt sessions (either stalking or in blinds/high seats). The morning hunt begins one hour before dawn and ends mid-morning. The afternoon hunt starts about 2-3 hours before dawn. The second hunting days is conducted in the same manner. You can use your free time, morning or early afternoon, to visit the historical town of Klatovy and other places in the area (agro tourism, wellness and more). The ideal weapon for turkey hunting is a shotgun with a larger shot size of over 5 mm. You can also use a small-bore rifle or a drilling. We recommend caliber (243 Win. 5.6x57, 5.6x50 Mag., 223 Rem., 222 Rem., 22 Hornet). You can also use 22LR with better ammo (CCI Stinger 22LR or Velocitor 22LR). On request, we can provide you with a suitable hunting weapon for a fee. If you need some things to hunt on the spot, you can buy them in our hunting and equipment shop. We recommend the weather adapted hunting clothing, solid and possibly warm shoes, possibly change clothes, bag, accessories and binoculars, Shooting stick.

Wild turkey hunting is organized in hunting area “Kakov”. The area is located on the edge of the nature reserve on the Planice ridge, about 40 km from Pilsen near Nepomuk, 50 km from the border with Germany and 120 km from Prague International Airport. Hunting for wild turkey is done in several ways: 1) From hight seat/Blind- the most popular hunting type 2) Stalking - is another very common type of hunting. The hunter moves quietly and carefully through the hunting area. He tries to get as close to the game and then harvest it. This requires deal of experience about the game, its habits, tracking skills, etc. 3) Imitation Calling hunting - is another way to hunt the wild turkey in courtship (mating) time. Here is an attempt to attract the game in the open with various turkey calls. 4) With Decoy with imitation or live turkey Calls - an unusual but effective and interesting way to hunt. This when a decoy is placed in position, near a stalking area or at /near a high seat. The imitation or live turkey calls the turkeys in the area. This presents a challenge to dominate male turkeys (Toms) that a rival is in the area.
