Paraguay, a landlocked country, offers a diverse ecological system ranging from the dense forests of the Chaco region to the vast wetlands and marshes of the Parana River. This varied terrain is home to an abundance of game including dove, pigeon, perdiz, as well as waterfowl.Paraguay’s landscape is dominated by its rivers, the most prominent of those being the Paraguay and Paraná. The convergence of the Paraguay and Paraná rivers at the Triple Frontier (where Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil meet) is a strategic and vital area for the region's economy. The Paraguay River, which runs from north to south through the center of the country, divides the country into two distinct regions: the Eastern (Región Oriental) and the Western (Región Occidental), also referred to as the Chaco. The former, also known as Paraneña, consists of rolling hills, fertile plains, and subtropical forests. This area is the most populous and includes the capital city, Asunción, along with the majority of the country's agricultural land. The Chaco region is a vast, sparsely populated area, dominated by large swaths of dry forests, scrublands, and savannas. If Argentina is known for its dove shooting, the key bird in Paraguay is the pigeon. Local agriculture creates such favorable conditions for this bird, that hunting is limitless, with up to 250 birds shot per hunter a day. Big-game hunting opportunities also exist, culminating in close encounters with free-range water buffalo in the swamps and thickets. Recently a few outfitters have started offering duck hunts in Paraguay as well. Travel to Paraguay is straightforward, with international flights arriving in Asunción, the capital city. From there, travel to hunting areas can be arranged through local outfitters who provide comprehensive packages including ground transportation. Hunting in Paraguay is typically organized through these outfitters who offer guided hunts, ensuring that all local hunting regulations and conservation efforts are adhered to. Details ausblenden
