Where to hunt Striped Hyena
Hyenas are Africa’s second-largest predator. The largest and most well-known of the species, the Spotted Hyena occurs from West Africa across to East Africa, down to Southern Africa. Brown Hyena are found in the central and western areas of Southern Africa, whilst the smallest of the species, the Striped Hyena occurs in North and East Africa, the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. However, it may only be hunted in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda.
Price distribution
Most Striped Hyena are hunted in Tanzania during a minimum 10-day hunt that will cost approximately $1,200-1,700 per day with both Spotted and Striped Hyena trophy fees ranging from $700-$1,300. In addition, you will be required to purchase a 14-day hunting license.
When to hunt Striped Hyena?
In Tanzania, the hunting season is from 1 July to 31 December. The best months to hunt Hyenas are the cooler winter months especially if you are baiting as the baits last longer before going rancid even though hyenas are not averse to eating rotten meat.
