Nyala hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
The Nyala was described in 1849 as the Angus Bushbuck. African folklore has it that this was one of the most beautiful animals God ever created. In the beginning of the last century they were so rare that game rangers used to doff their hats in respect.
Originally, the Nyala were concentrated in the Zululand region, which was the preferred hunting destination. But due to an excellent conservation program, these animals have been translocated across the country where they are now readily available for hunting.
This animal adapts well to and flourishes in a game ranching situation but is prone to drought and dry conditions like in Namibia where it has been introduced. Without doubt, the best Nyala hunting areas are still KwaZulu-Natal (Zululand) and the northern regions of the Limpopo Province in South Africa. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
