Where to hunt Nagor Reedbuck
Called by its full name, the Nagor Bohor Reedbuck just like all Reedbuck enjoys wetlands, long grass and reed beds. The Nagor Reedbuck is found in Western Africa where it can be hunted in Benin and Burkina Faso.

The hunting price range for Nagor Reedbuck in Burkina Faso is $1,200 per day, minimum 7 days, with a trophy fee of $450. As many of the Outfitters operating in Western Africa are French, they charge in Euros. So if you are comparing prices just make sure of the currency you are being quoted in. In Benin, the trophy fee for a Nagor Reedbuck ranges from 800-1500 Euros or $900-1,700.
When to hunt Nagor Reedbuck?
In Benin hunting season is from mid-December to mid-May. In Burkina Faso, the hunting season runs from December 15th to April 15th. The most popular time to hunt are the first three months of the season, this being December, January and February when the temperatures and conditions are most comfortable. The best time to hunt Reedbuck is maybe a month into the season when areas within the territory have been burnt, reducing the availability of cover for the Reedbuck and the green grass is starting to flush providing them with high quality grazing.
Hunting methods
This species of Reedbuck live loosely in small groups making use of long grass and reed beds for cover in which to hide. Due to their solitary behaviour, it is best to stalk along the edges of their preferred habitat. They are best hunted early in the morning and late afternoon where they will break cover to feed, especially on emerging green grass on burnt areas. Be ready for a quick shot as they tend to jump up at the last minute out of resting place, sometimes stopping to look back, giving you enough time for a quick shot.
Why hunt Nagor Reedbuck?
The smallest of the ‘Bohor’ species which derived its name from the local Amharic vernacular. Many of the subspecies of this antelope are named after its country or region of distribution. Budget wise, this is an affordable species that should not be overlooked when the opportunity arises. It makes for a great shoulder mount, pedestal mount or even a European skull mounted on a shield looks pretty awesome. If you want to keep the natural look of the horns, ensure your taxidermist does not polish them.
