Livingstone s suni hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Suni is a very small antelope. The Tanzanian species are classified as the East African Suni by the Safari Club Record Book. They are mostly a tan-brown colour with a white belly. Their dark fawn ever wiggling tail is often all that gives them away in the thickets and forests where they are found. The large rounded ears also often appear an orange-pink translucent colour in the sunlight. Only the males have horns.
Suni can be hunted from the Southern Tanzania border, through the Selous, eastwards, all the way to Masailand.
Suni are mostly active at dawn and dusk and will wander into more open areas during the cover of darkness. They use well-defined pathways and one of the ways they mark their territories is by using dung middens. Freshly used middens make for a good ambush point and these dainty animals respond well to callers.
Suni is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN. However, a prearranged Tanzanian hunting license is required to hunt Suni.
