Lichtenstein hartebeest hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Liechtenstein Hartebeest is a medium to large size antelope and the less common of the two Hartebeest species found in South Africa. This dull yellow-brown antelope has a noticeable sloping back and a slight hump. Both males and females have backwards curving s-shaped horns. The bulls have heavier (thicker) horns than the cows.
Originally these Hartebeests only occurred in the northern regions of the Kruger National Park where they have been successfully reintroduced. A limited number of specimens have been introduced to a few game ranches in South Africa.
Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest forms small herds dominated by a herd bull. They can be found grazing between vleis (marshland) and surrounding woodlands. Known as an inquisitive animal and one of the fastest-running antelope in Africa.
Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, and no special export and import permits are required.
