Leopard hunts are one of the most challenging hunts in Africa. These shy nocturnal creatures often outwit their human adversaries. In general, many hunters enquire about an Outfitters success rate in hunting these magnificent cats. Leopards are randomly distributed throughout Mozambique and are locally extinct in highly built-up areas. The greatest Leopard concentrations are found in the protected areas which include the majority of hunting concessions. In the tsetse fly belt, some outfitters offer nocturnal Leopard hunts with dogs. These unique hunts are conducted at night when the tsetse flies are not active as the dogs are susceptible to trypanosomiasis a parasite which is transmitted by the fly and is deadly to the dogs. These dogs are caged during the day in special fly net-proof kennels to keep them safe. Classified as vulnerable by the IUCN, CITES permits are required before the commencement of your hunt and they may only with a Mozambican hunting license.
