Fox hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Only one Fox species occurs in Tanzania and even then, this animal is not classified as a true Fox but still belongs to the dog family. Bat-eared Foxes are hunted for their soft furry pelts. They are easily recognisable by their huge ears which are used to locate their prey underground.
Having smaller teeth than normal Foxes, a special adaptation for their diet of small reptiles, locusts, insects and termites which make up 80 - 90% of their diet. Although mostly nocturnal these Foxes may often be found in family groups out of their burrows searching for food at dawn and dusk.
These Foxes are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and only a Tanzanian hunting license is required to hunt this trophy.
