Western Hartebeest, is a middle size antelope sometimes referred to as a Major Hartebeest. These sandy-coloured animals stand high at the shoulders with a slight hump. Their horns are heavy and deeply ridged and shaped like the handlebars of a Harley Davidson. They are faster from a standing start than a Harley and can reach speeds of up to 50mph (80kph) making them one of the fastest antelope in the world. Western Hartebeest can be hunted on a savannah hunt in Cameroon where they enjoy the open country, light bush with medium to tall savannah grasslands. Western Hartebeest is diurnal animal feeding during the cooler morning and afternoon periods. As they normally feed in open areas, it is easier to stalk them while feeding than during the heat of the day while resting in the shade. Males are highly territorial and often encountered as solitary animals. Western Hartebeest is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export and import permits are required. A hunting license must be purchased before the start of the hunt.
