- Experience a complete re-connection with the land and its wildlife. A chance to step back in time to when life was a little quieter and a little slower and enjoy an unmatched hunting adventure with us and our team.
About this hunt
This is a true horseback hunt. We have over 80 head of horse bred in these mountains and trained by our crew. The crew on your hunt will consist of one guide assisted by a wrangler and/or a cook. We can provide extra crew on request. All Stone’s Sheep are on a quota, and we have harvested the majority of our quota over the past ten years. With average horns of 37″ and bases of 14"-14 1/2″. Our sheep have true Stone’s Sheep colouring's and you will find that a lot of our capes are quite dark, with others fading into a variety of tones. Most of our rams still have their lamb tips giving them the majestic stone sheep appeal. Schedule • Fly commercially into Whitehorse, Yukon and spend the night at a hotel along with other clients of ours on the same hunt. • The following morning you will be provided with a rental car and drive south on the Alaska Highway to Watson Lake where we will meet you with one of our bush planes to fly you down to our main lodge Scoop Lake. • Here we will go through license and tags, check rifles are sighted in after your travel and get you packed to head to the mountains. • Our Sheep are spread throughout our entire guide area so from Scoop Lake we will fly you out to the camp you will be hunting from where your crew and horses will be waiting. Our hunts begin from one of these cabin camps, and you can expect a mix of riding and hiking during the days and a lot of glassing (let your eyes do the walking). If we do not find the ram you are looking for in the area within day riding, we do have a full supply of tents and gear to spike out to different areas of the mountains to get a look at some different country. • Your trip home is the reverse of the way you arrived. There is also great fishing in the lakes, and we provide a fishing license and basic gear We include a wolf tag at no extra charge so if you come across a wolf on your hunt, please harvest it.
