About this hunt
Rio Grande Wild Turkey hunt at Quail Oak Ranch. The woods are full of Toms, Jakes and Hens. There are very high numbers of turkeys on the ranch. Flocks of 30+ are normal. Sometimes a few flocks flock up and there can easily be over 50 birds. It’s not uncommon for Toms to kick the crap out of my decoys. Ranch is 38.5 acres located in San Luis Obispo county, 13.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. We will be hunting out of a huge ground blind. Blind can accommodate multiple hunters and guide. We may also setup in brush blinds in different locations around the ranch. Guide will use decoys and calls to get Toms in range. You will be hearing lots of gobbling. Jakes typically run in fast in a small group. We also have multiple bearded hens. On spring hunts we will be going after bearded birds only. This is a 2 day hunt. So if you harvest a bird your first day. The second day you can add a 2nd bird for an additional $1,000 The Ranch is covered in oak trees, manzanita and sage brush. Alfalfa, oats, barley and wheat are grown as well as many fruit trees, like apple, plum, persimmon and more. There are 2 seasonal creeks that run through the property and we have a seasonal pond as well. The turkeys love this ranch. Have food, water and tall hard wood trees to roost in. I will scout the evening before and find where the birds are roosting. So in the morning we can position our selves accordingly. Property is 30 minute drive from Pismo Beach or the Santa Maria Airport. Additional fees not included in price; -tax
