More about us
Our company was established in 1976 and operates in 1 territory.
- Our camp is an oasis of comfort after a long day in the mountains. Hot running water, delicious food, conversation and comfortable beds can all be found in abundance. The guides have separate accommodations in " Chateau le Grunge". A three hour horse ride will bring you to another small log cabin. Both of these camps have barns and corrals so the horses are ready when you are. Spike camps are also used for remote and inaccessible areas.
- Our territory is located in Southeastern British Columbia in the heart of the Rocky mountains. This area is noted for several things: abundance and quality of wildlife, very low resident hunting pressure and high, rugged mountains! The horses in our string are sure footed and well mannered, but they can't fly, so be prepared to walk at least some of the time. The quality and enjoyment of your hunt, as well as your chances for success, will be largely dependent on your physical condition.
- Your hunt with us will be a classic hunting experience as you and your guide test your skills against those of your quarry. Low resident hunter pressure means that there won't be any foot races up the mountain or animals shot out from under you. You won't be spending time in a truck cruising roads or stump hunting the valley bottoms, you will be on the mountain in the midst of the action. Your guide will give one hundred and fifty percent to make your hunt as enjoyable and successful as possible. To a man, this is a group that is young, gung-ho and very knowledgeable in both the area and the wildlife. Experienced hunters themselves, no guide will try to " walk your buns off".
- In hunting, there are few guarantees that can be made without your nose growing. One guarantee that we will make, however, is that the service you receive will be unsurpassed by any other outfitter. SERVICE HAS BEEN, AND WILL ALWAYS BE, THE CORNERSTONE OF OUR COMPANY. It starts with Steven and Stefanie and carries through to every employee of the outfit. These are down to earth people who love the simple things of life. They will share with you the very thing that makes their lifestyle so rewarding and unique. From the time you step off the plane, to each day of hunting and evenings of camaraderie around the campfire or kitchen table, you are guaranteed to take home unforgettable memories of a great experience.
About this hunt
Hunting Bighorns is not for the faint hearted. Rugged terrain and limited number of legal rams spread over a large area make this a challenging hunt. To increase your chances, two guides are employed to help cover the country and spot your ram. Be patient, you will spend hours glassing the mountains. Be in shape, your success depends on it. Get well acquainted with your back-pack, you'll be using it. Season Dates Sept 10- Oct 25. This is a 10 or 14 day hunt with 2 guides per hunter.

Incredible experience
I’d like to submit my review of Steven Leuenberger and Ram Creek Outfitters. I scheduled my archery moose hunt in early 2020 as COVID was just beginning to appear on the radar. I submitted an online request for information through BookYourHunt.com, and Steven replied the next day. He answered all of my questions, and we were able to discuss details of the hunt. It didn’t take long for him to gain my trust, as he was extremely personable and very easy to talk to. After talking with Steven, we scheduled my archery moose hunt for 2023. With so much time between scheduling the hunt and the hunt date, Steven would periodically contact me just to make sure I didn’t have any questions about the paperwork and just to chat and talk hunting. It was very reassuring for me that he cared enough to reach out from time to time. Little things like that let me know he genuinely cared about me and my peace of mind. Everything was incredibly easy, and every detail was covered…from payment schedule, what to bring, crossing the border, etc. The entire process was made very simple thanks to great communication from Steven. The hunt was nothing short of incredible. Southern BC is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and the camp at Ram Creek Outfitters was remote, yet incredibly comfortable. The landscape was spectacular, and there was plenty of wildlife. My wife even came with me and enjoyed the comforts of camp and the BC landscape. Although weather was a significant factor the week I was there, we still had some really close encounters. Truth be told, I probably should have gone home with a moose that week, but the shot opportunity didn’t feel right, and I let my conscience win. I kept thinking that would probably be my one opportunity. Looking back, it was. I felt no pressure from Steven to take an ill-advised shot. I’ve heard stories of guides telling the client to take a marginal shot or rush the shot because the guide’s success rate or opportunity rate for their statistics depended on it. But not Steven. He told me if I didn’t feel right, then I shouldn’t take the shot. He insisted that when to release the arrow was 100% my decision and no one else’s. I can’t help but appreciate and respect that. We had a few other close calls, but no shot opportunity presented itself. As my hunt concluded, Steven offered me a golden opportunity, something that doesn’t come along very often. He invited me to return the following year at the cost of only covering his expenses. How could I say no to that? Paperwork was drawn up, and dates were set for the following year. As usual, frequent communication in the offseason occurred. Crossing the border and arriving at camp was easy. This time we had fantastic weather. We only lost about a day and a half due to weather as opposed to three or four days the previous year. We had a really close encounter on day two. But once again, the proper shot opportunity did not present itself, even though the bull was 25 yards in the wide open. And once again, I felt no pressure from Steven to take the shot. Everything finally came together on our last full day of hunting. A beautiful bull came in to Steven’s calling. He came in aggressive, swaying his head back and forth, and looking for a fight. This time the perfect shot opportunity did present itself, and the bull expired very quickly. As my dream had finally come true, I had never been happier as a hunter. As excited as I was, Steven was equally happy. I could tell he genuinely cared about the success of my hunt. When I called some references back in 2020, one of the gentlemen said that no one cares more about you getting your animal than Steven. And he was absolutely right. I can’t say enough about Steven and his entire operation at Ram Creek Outfitters. He runs a small camp, which ensures attention to personal detail. Both times I hunted with him, there were four hunters total in camp, each with his own guide and sleeping quarters. At the end of each day, everyone ate together at one table... hunters, guides, and the cook. To be honest, that was one of my favorite parts of the experience. Getting to meet and know people from all over and sharing dinner together really made this experience more than just about the animals we hunt. It was about connecting with people and getting to know them on a personal level. Of course, I have to mention the delicious home cooked meals we had every night, as well as fresh home cooked breakfast every morning. I can’t wait to return for another hunt. My next hunt with Steven will probably include my daughter and/or my brothers. I tell everyone I can about Ram Creek Outfitters. I wish every hunter could experience the fascinating things I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy. As cliche as it sounds, I really did leave as a friend. I hope I made Steven feel the same way. The same can be said for all the guides in camp (Tyler, Kevin, Daylin, Kaden, and Dwaine), as well as Shawna, our chef. This is a first class operation with first class people. I will be back.
Nothing
Absolutely wonderful!
My 13 year-old son and I did a spring black bear hunt with Ram Creek Outfitters in May 2024. I immediately felt like we were hunting with a long-time friend and not an outfitter / guide. The entire hunt was absolutely wonderful! The cabins were rustic, warm and comfortable. Food was great, home cooked and plentiful. This was my first guided trip outside of Africa and was everything that I wanted. Hunting was truly free range, fair chase and felt like I was hunting at home in Idaho and Montana with the added bonus of seeing new country and not having to worry about all the details...we only had to concentrate on hunting and let Steven, Stefanie and their crew worry about everything else. This area was loaded with game. I cannot count the number of deer (muleys and whitetail) we saw, along with plenty of elk, bears (black and grizzly), moose and sheep. My son shot a beautiful bear about half way through the 7-day hunt. It had everything one could ask for...size (6'3"), beautiful color phase and excellent quality hide. If you are looking for a real hunting experience, I cannot recommend Ram Creek Outfitters more highly. The quality of the camp and food was excellent. Quantity and quality of game was great and Steven was a pleasure to be around. I hope to hunt with Steven again in the near future.
The weather did not cooperate with us for the first few days, but this is completely out of anyone's control. Steven remained dedicated and optimistic the entire trip...even when the rain was making it tough.
I cannot say enough good things about RCO.
Steven and his team are as top notch as they come. Everything on this hunt was well-organized and well-executed from start to finish. Everyone at Ram Creek Outfitters is courteous, honest, professional, and extremely skilled in their craft. My Dad and I went on this hunt seeking adventure, and boy do these guys deliver. From the hunting itself to the comradery at camp, every aspect of this hunt exceeded our hopes and expectations. Steven and the guys went above and beyond to create a successful hunt, I was fortunate enough to harvest an epic 7x6 Bull Elk, the processing and border crossing could not have gone smoother thanks to these guys. If you're looking for an experience that will create memories that last a lifetime, this is it.
