East African Greater Kudu remains one of Africa’s most sought after species. This magnificently impressive animal with its corkscrew shaped spiral horns is normally on every hunters bucket list and the opportunity to upgrade on an already hunted trophy, remains as a request by most hunters. East African Greater Kudu is no different to any of the Greater Kudu that can be hunted across Africa. What makes it unique is its geographical location. They can be hunted throughout the country, except the far north western corner in the Msawa region. Kudu flourish in the mixed scrub woodlands and hilly terrain areas with a good water supply. In these open expansive areas, they may not migrate but they will seek out areas with good browse during the dry months. They have good eyesight and huge radar like ears, which they put to good use in detecting any form of danger. When escaping from danger they run off exposing the white underside of their tails. The East African Greater Kudu is classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special import or export permits are required. Kudu may only be hunted with a minimum of a 21 day Tanzanian hunting license.
