Dik dik hunting in Ethiopia {{ totalToursString }}
Africa has four species of Dik Dik, broken down into two groups, the Short Snouted Dik Diks and the Long Snouted Dik Diks. Of the Short Snouted group, Salt’s (Typical) Dik Dik can be found in the western parts of Ethiopia and from the Long Snouted group, various subspecies of Gunther’s Dik Dik are found in the southern and western areas along with Kirk’s Dik Dik in the south.
The most commonly hunted Dik Dik is the Kirk’s Dik Dik. Although classified as a long-snouted species, its snout is not as long as Gunther’s Dik Dik.
This species shows a substantial variation in colour from a light yellow to a rich red colour and is identifiable by its protruding snout. They are both monogamous and territorial.
Dik Diks are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and may be hunted on an Ethiopian hunting license.
