For over 30 years, the Perkins family has owned and farmed 'Flax Hills.' As the second generation on this land, we, Karl and Viv, have raised our four children here, deeply connecting with the land and its traditions. Hunting has always been a significant part of life at Flax Hills. In 2010, we opened Flax Hills Hunting to share this unique experience with the world.
Our property offers a true taste of New Zealand’s high country, with rugged hills set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Kaikoura Mountain range and the pristine Pacific coastline just 30 minutes away. The expansive estate features a variety of landscapes — from fertile irrigated flats to rolling hills and challenging high-country terrain. We carefully manage the land, utilising it for livestock farming, while preserving areas in their native state, were wild deer roam freely.

We welcome you to our expansive private hunting estate nestled in the heart of New Zealand! Hunt the untamed high country with our skilled guides who have an extensive knowledge of the land and its wildlife. Experience rural life on a working ranch where the stunning landscapes vary from fertile flats and rolling hills to rugged terrain. Stay in the warmth and comfort of the charming rustic homestead and enjoy genuine kiwi hospitality. This package includes: 3 night's stay in the charming 5-bedroom lodge and 3 days guided hunting. Our fixed cost hunting packages cover everything you need for a seamless experience, including all necessary equipment, airport transfers, accommodations, beverages, guiding services, field preparation of trophies and delivery to the taxidermist for export. This package includes a famous New Zealand Red Stag trophy (up to 350SCI). You can upgrade either when booking or out in the field. If you are a group of hunters or would like to bring non-hunters, we can personalize a value package tailored to your preferences. Additional Game available to consider adding to your package.
