Common duiker hunting in Zimbabwe {{ totalToursString }}
Common Duiker is also known as the Grey or Bush Duiker and classified as a pygmy antelope species for the SCI record book. Unlike most Duiker species, only the males have horns. Their colour may vary from grey to a light brown in different regions. These mainly nocturnal animals are active in the early morning and late afternoon. They spend the day resting and will take flight in a running diving motion to avoid hunters and predators.
They may be hunted across the country in a range of different habitats. Trophy quality and species density are consistent throughout the country. Any male with horns longer than the ears is considered a good trophy. They can be really difficult to hunt if specifically targeted and normally shot as a trophy of opportunity. They are not a water-dependent species but are often found near dry pans and dams.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
