Civet cat hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Civet Cats are solitary nocturnal Raccoon like animals with similar predominantly black and white colouring and a dark face mask. Their hind legs are longer than their front legs and they have a long tail.
Civet Cats can be hunted countrywide from Western Tanzania to the Selous and Masailand. Some Outfitters do not have them on their price lists in Masailand.
Being nocturnal feeders they are best hunted at first and last light when searching for food. Being omnivores, they feed on fruit, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, rodents, frogs, crabs, bird's eggs and carrion. They kill live prey by pouncing on it and shaking it to death.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export permits are required but a prearranged Tanzanian hunting license is required.
