About this hunt
Drop Camps are a great opportunity for a hunter or a hunting party to experience remote backcountry hunting without the expense of hiring a guide. We will pack you and your party (max 4 people) into a backcountry camp and leave you for 8 days to hunt on your own. Amenities will include 1 large 16x15 wall tent with 4 cots a wood stove and a small kitchen set up. A latrine tent will already be in place and dug for you along with firewood stacked for your hunt. Essential items like toilet paper, soap, coffee will be provided. Other than essentials you are responsible for packing in your own food and gear. Weight is a critical component when it comes to any backcountry hunt, we will provide 4 pack mules to haul in all your food and gear, each pack mule can carry up to 140 lbs of gear. The location of the drop camp and hunting pins will only be shared once a deposit is received. The drop camp is located 5 miles from any drive able road and 6 miles away from our main camp. The camp lies at the base of 2 major drainage's giving you multiple options for hunting out of camp in the morning. The terrain is mountainous and provides a mixture of open meadows and hillsides, dark timber and broken timber. Come prepared and in shape and you may find an old mountain bull who has never seen a hunter. Elk tags are relatively easy to secure, they are sold as a first come first serve tag on December 10th of the year prior to your hunt. You and your hunting party need to purchase these tags yourself on December 10th! Bear and wolf tags are also available after you buy your elk tag over the counter. The price of the drop camp is $8000 and the deposit to secure your spot is $4000. You can book the drop camp yourself or bring some hunting buddies, the max is 4. If you feel up to the challenge of hunting big mountain bulls contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible. *during hunting season response times will vary!

Wounding
- We follow a policy that is widely followed by Outfitters and Guides worldwide. A “wounded” animal is deemed “wounded” by your discretion and moral obligation to the animal you are hunting. It could be the way the animal responded when shot, could be blood, could be you saw the arrow or bullet strike the animal. Ultimately the final call is up to you. We strive our hardest to retrieve any and all game animals shot but if the animal is not recovered you should consider helping your buddies in your hunting party find success filling their tags. We understand this is a self guided hunt and things happen but you have a moral obligation to look for and find any animal you attempt to harvest.

Real Deal Elk Hunt, amazing trip and experience
Hunting true public land bulls in the deep woods of Idaho was awesome. The camp and the guides were fantastic. We saw and heard elk throughout the week.
Everything was fantastic. I missed an opportunity to shoot a bull, but that was only my fault. I learned a ton from the experience and can't wait to do it again!
Combining a great outfitter and an incredible area makes for a wonderful trip
Friendly and helpful guide staff. They make you feel like family and go out of their way to make the trip enjoyable. The camp is in a beautiful area, and seeing vast amounts of it from the back of a very trustworthy horse is an amazing experience. We saw all sorts of wildlife, including elk, wolf, moose and mountain goats. My guide was able to set me up for shots that worked well for my hunting and shooting style. All in all a truly life changing experience.
Nothing!
A hunt of a life time
With the experience you get riding 20 miles to the base camp on horses and mules, I didn’t think the trip could get any better than that. I was so wrong, the manager jade and his crew went to great lengths to making us feel at home even tho we were 20 miles deep in the back country of Idaho. The way they had camp set up was amazing with sleeping tents a shower tent, kitchen tent all ready for us to get start once we arrived there. I was in total shock about how good the food was and they even had freshly baked desserts for us after a long day of hunting. With good conversations and plenty of laughs in camp the experience me and my brother had was by far the best. We will definitely be going back !!
