About this hunt
Chinese water deer have an open season from 1st November to the 31st March in the UK, this allows us to avoid mistaking young bucks from milking does, as they can sometimes be hard to distinguish. This is because they have a total absence of antlers. Stalking is charged per outing, but we recommend booking a full day for successful hunt. A TYPICAL DAY: On the day, the RDV is made either at the accommodation or directly on the grounds, either on or before first light. Your guide will give a safety briefing and any advice from experiences as well as etiquette and best practices. A shooting competency test on to a target emulating real shooting situations may be carried out for novices prior to your booking. This can allow you to familiarise yourself with the estate rifle and help us gauge what scenarios to go for on the day. Once we are ready to go, with the wind in the right direction and the plan in mind, your guide will keep a look out and scout for any animal movements as we stealthily advance. When a deer of appropriate description presents itself, you will be guided and advised to a position in which you can safely take the shot, whether that be standing and off of shooting stick, in a high seat from a hide or laying prone on the ground. You must reload the rifle without delay and observe the situation until it becomes clear. Your guide will advise on what to do from there onward. Each outing usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the objective, cull plan and success. The evening outings are usually similar to the morning’s, but we can sometimes take you to another property, use a different method or for an alternative quarry. For best results we aim to get going two to three hours before the daylight is gone. The package includes 2 stalks, a shot test, estate rifle use, guiding and the first beast up to a representative head. Any top tier/ trophy bucks are £550 flat rate for those packages. Single stalks are available upon request at £275

Territory
Our region is the very image of the “English countryside” with its hedges, its woods and its rolling valleys, perfectly located between London and the Cotswold. We would like to share that with you when you book your sporting trip with us. The local fauna allow us to respectfully offer outings for wood pigeons, roe deer, muntjac and Chinese water deer, all the while working on conservation and protecting crops.

Recommendations:
As soon as you arrive, the beauty of our region and carefully selected accommodations become apparent! We have traditional local establishments we work with who care for our guests, from the cosy country pub, beautiful village BnB or a higher-end hotel. They usually offer the classic “English breakfast”. We can also arrange your picnic with them if you require. If you bring your own remember to pack enough food and water to hold you over all day.. Don’t hesitate to ask us for the best pubs and restaurants to eat in the evenings!
How to get there
Most of our grounds are located around the fringe of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, between the Chiltern hills and Oxford city, an excellent area to book outings with us. Easy access off the M40, only minutes from Oxford, the historic city well known for its animated town centre. Just under an hour from London, between the Chiltern hills and the Cotswolds brings you to the heart of our range, it’s worth the journey.
