Southern impala hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Southern Impala is mostly listed as Impala on BookYourHunt when it comes to South Africa.
Southern Impala takes its name from its southerly distribution where these animals were first described. This small-medium size antelope originally only occurred in the Bushveld (subtropical savannah woodland) regions of the country but has now been extensively and widely introduced on game farms throughout the country except the extreme western desert regions.
Southern Impala is a popularly hunted animal by both hunters and predators. Only the males have lyre-shaped horns and are herding animals. During the breeding season, large herds are gathered by a single dominant ram.
Impala is listed by the IUCN as a species of least concern.
