Southern greater kudu hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Southern Greater Kudu is every first-time hunter to Africa’s dream animal. Many returning hunters will try to improve on their original trophy size. These magnificent spiral-horned antelope are sought after as both trophy animals and for their meat.
Southern Greater Kudus range extends from South Africa (excluding the Western and Eastern Cape), through Namibia to Southern Angola and across Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia to Mozambique.
One of the best ways to hunt Kudu is to find a high vantage point and glass the likely suitable Kudu habitat. Cold winter mornings are best when they may be found basking in the early morning sun. They have fantastic eyesight and ears like radar dishes, so difficult to approach during a stalk. Keep an eye on the animal if possible during the stalk as they tend to just disappear, giving them the name of “Grey Ghost”.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
