Sitatunga hunting in Zambia {{ totalToursString }}
The Sitatunga in Zambia is a swamp-dwelling antelope known for its elongated, splayed hooves and water-resistant coat, typically greyish-brown in males and reddish-brown in females, both with white stripes and spots. Males have distinctive, twisted horns.
Of the three subspecies and sometimes a fourth. Only the Zambezi Sitatunga is found in Zambia. These Sitatunga, also known as ‘Marshbuck’ are smaller in the body than their Forest cousins cousins.
The best place to hunt Sitatunga in Zambia is in the Bangweulu Swamps and the Kafue Flats. These wetland areas provide the ideal habitat for this elusive antelope. Sitatunga hunting is available in some privately owned game ranches.
Sitatunga numbers are decreasing but they are still classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special permits are required to hunt a Sitatunga other than a Zambian hunting license.
