Sable hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Known as the “Prince of Africa”, this majestic beast is probably the most sought after trophy. With its regal curved horns and stunning black and white appearance. A tough animal to bring down, with their dangerously sharp horns and lightning-fast reflexes they have been known to kill many a Lion.
Their preferred habitat is long grass and dambos (seasonally waterlogged wetlands). They occur as free-range animals in many of the big game hunting areas of Southern and East Africa and often sold as a speciality species which includes a minimum hunting period.
Sable hunting is available throughout South Africa on high fence game ranches, where exemption permits entitle the landowner to hunt year round. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
