Red duiker hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
One of South Africa’s three Duiker species, this chestnut-red coloured “Tiny 10” antelope species is a forest dwelling Duiker. Both sexes have horns, with a red and black crest of hair on their head between their horns making for an optical illusion of a third horn.
Also known as the Natal Red Duiker, it historically occurred in the south eastern Mpumalanga Province, the Zululand region of KwaZulu-Natal and Soutpansberg Mountain forests of the Limpopo Province. Red Duiker is a water dependent species that is most prolifically found in the Zululand coastal and sand forest game reserves of northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Due to habitat destruction their numbers are declining and they are mostly hunted in the drainage lines of the dry arid Zululand bushveld game ranches. However, they are still classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN and no special hunting permits are required.
