Lesser kudu hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Lesser Kudu are a medium sized antelope and about half the size of a Greater Kudu. The males are greyish brown and the females a lighter reddish-fawn colour. Both sexes have distinctive thin white stripes running vertically across their backs.
Lesser Kudu are an East African special that may only be hunted in Tanzania, Ethiopia and more recently available in Uganda. Although not many Lesser Kudu are hunted, the majority are collected in the drier regions of Tanzania. The majority are hunted in Masailand and some in the Rungwa region.
Looking like smaller replicas of their greater cousins, a male Lesser Kudu’s spiral horns grow to measure approximately 30 inches on average. They browse mainly at night so best hunted in the early morning or late afternoon. They are shy and extremely alert.
Lesser Kudu may only be hunted on a 21 day license and are classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export permits are required.
