Kalahari springbok hunting in Botswana {{ totalToursString }}
Kalahari Springbuck is the largest of the species and is known for its quality trophy horns. This regionalised species only occurs in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana. It is also known as the Western Springbuck, it is light fawn to cinnamon-brown colour, with dark brown to black side stripes, a white underbelly, and chest. The facial markings are white with brown stripes.
The name was derived from the Afrikaans word “spring,” which means jump, and literally translated means "jumping buck." During the rut and when excited, these beautiful small antelope display an impressive pronk, also known as a stotting display. They reveal a white crest of fur on their arched backs while bouncing on all fours. The exact cause of this behavior is unknown but could be a show of strength and fitness.
Besides making a great trophy, the carcass provides perfect family-sized servings when cut into roasts and is a highly sought-after venison. Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required.
