Impala hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Impala are the most prolific species found in East Africa. This medium size antelope is often the first species taken by hunters who come to Africa for the first time and an animal that you are likely to hunt more than once, either to improve on horn size, as bait when Leopard hunting or even for camp meat.
Only the males have horns. Two Impala subspecies are recognised in Tanzania according to the Safari Club International record book. Both species are identical, but the East African Impala has substantially bigger (wider & longer) horns than the Southern Impala.
Southern Impala may be hunted in central and southern Tanzania, in the Selous, Rungwa, Kizigo regions and are absent from Western Tanzania. The more impressive East African Impala is found in the northern regions of the country in Masailand and Maswa regions.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export permits are required. A prepaid minimum of a 7 day hunting license must be pre arranged prior to hunting this species.
