Hartmanns zebra hunting in South Africa {{ totalToursString }}
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra are native to Namibia and have been introduced to South Africa. Although their numbers are low, they flourish in rugged and semi-arid areas. They may be found on limited game ranches in the western regions of the country.
These Plains Zebra have no shadow stripes. These stripes run all the way down the legs to the hooves, a white belly, mule-like face, brown patch on the nose and in some instances a very prominent dewlap. They live in harems that are dominated by a dominant stallion. Kicking and biting amongst the herd animals and males defending their harems often means that a hide can be damaged during these tussles and not always visible before you pull the trigger. These marks add to the character of the animal.
Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra are increasing in number although listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. CITES permits are required for the import and export of these trophies to Europe and the USA.
