One of the best hunts I’ve been on, can’t wait to do it again!
Great group of guys/ fun hunt, Striker and his guides work hard to put you on the game. I’ve never had any issues with them moving me to different areas up/ down river to increase my chances for a successful hunt. Whether it be Caribou or Grizzly, your success is their success and they strive to make it happen. This will be my 3rd year in a row hunting with Striker, taking a Grizzly, Caribou and Wolverine on my first two hunts. The guides are excellent all around, from once the game is down to trophy care. The camps and food are also excellent for being out in the middle of know where. Can’t hunt with a better group of guys.
Nothing to complain about, top notch.
Extremely hardworking!
Outfitter made multiple flights for us to move and get into animals. Great accommodations, guides, and game. Lots of grizzly in the area and everyone in camp took a caribou and a bear if they chose to. Highly recommend these guys, they work hard for clients!
Not a single negative thing to say.
top notch, Can't do better than this
My name is Rick Washburn. I am 72 yrs old, in good health and condition for my age. I have hunted since I was eight years old and I am an excellent shot, experienced and have hunted Africa 10 times, Alaska 3 and all over the US all my life. I booked a Caribou hunt with Striker Overly who came highly recommended by my friend and Alaskan guide Will Koehler of Wrangler Outfitters. Will was not wrong. Striker not only lived up to his recommendation, he exceeded it! The Hunt was scheduled for September 1-9 out of Striker’s base camp in Umiat just North of the Artic Circle. My main objective was Caribou. At Striker’s advice I also obtained tags for Grizzly, Wolf and Wolverine as there was a possibility of harvesting at least one of them in the area. I arrived in Fairbanks and flew a charter with other hunters the next day into Umiat where Striker maintains a base camp and airstrip for his two Bush planes. The Camp has a bunkhouse and storage house and cook tent. From this camp hunters are ferried to their respective tent camps on the river for the rest of the hunt. Our river camp consisted of a large tent for the two guides and two comfortable dome tents each for me and another hunter. My guide was Randy Krebill whom I found to be a passionate hunter, very capable and professional guide and all-around good company for the entire hunt. Hunting consisted mainly of using Zodiac style boats to go up and down the river to various points where we could glass the Tundra for Caribou. I saw Caribou almost every day. Thought I didn’t see a grizzly, I did see several wolves and believe it or not four, yes four wolverines on the hunt. I wasn’t close enough to take one, but it still was a thrill watching them through our binoculars. On the second to last day of the hunt we went way up the river and spotted some Caribou, one of which was a good shooter. Randy proceeded to run the raft up the river to head the shooter off. We pulled in several times to gage whether we were cutting his trail off and on the third try as we came up over the bank there, he was less than two hundred yards away. The brush was high enough that I couldn’t shoot prone, so Randy bent over and I used his back as a rest. Our breathing wasn’t synchronized, and I missed the shot. We synchronized our breathing and I settled in. Bang! The second shot took him directly in the heart. He ran 50 yds and piled up. This was a true wilderness hunt and one of the best hunts I’ve done. This is first class from front to back. Every hunter that flew out of Umiat to their various raft camps and I believe there were eight got their Caribou for 100% success. You can’t go wrong hunting with them. I highly recommend them. This is a unique and fun hunt. Striker keeps the river tents supplies almost daily with what they need using his bush planes from the base camp in Umiat. For this far into true wilderness this is a very comfortable hunt.
