Buffalo more aptly known as “Bison” opportunities are available on our private ranch located in Western South Dakota from late August until January. As North America’s largest mammal, Buffalo can weigh up to 2,000 pounds, but are still extremely agile with the ability to run up to 35 miles per hour for intermediate distances. The trophy class ranges from the freezer full of meat and incredible hide provided by a mature Cow to the combination of meat and horns offered by a world-class Bull Buffalo. Being in the home range, we are able to offer a wide selection of authentic hunts that can be catered to your ideal trophy Buffalo experience. Roaming the area where the prairie meets the hills, this open country provides vast expanses where spot and stalk tactics can be employed with either rifle or archery. This habitat makes recovery efficient via truck and trailer so your Buffalo can be processed at the lodge without wasting valuable meat. Limited opportunities are available each year based on our management practices, but fortunately there are no draw or over-the-counter tags required for our Buffalo so there is no excuse for you to miss out on this hunt of a lifetime.

Edgemont lies on the far southern edge of the Black Hills in western South Dakota. Approximately 30 minutes from the popular destination of Hot Springs and only 1.5 hours from the sprawling Rapid City with a modern regional airport, our lodge offers a scenic basecamp for our local hunting areas as well as exploration of national landmarks such as Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park within easy driving distance.

The lodge

Our camp atmosphere is all about being laid-back with full bellies encouraging hydration and telling stories that will have you rolling. Our facilities include modern amenities in a home style format that encourage fellowship, but offer privacy and relaxation as you take in the gorgeous surrounding scenery. There are ranges to hone your skills between hunts and a layout with the agenda based exclusively on your preferences. With meals prepared daily and a bar stocked with your beverage of choice, our finely apportioned lodge is a desirable place to refresh and recall your trips afield.
