Common duiker hunting in Tanzania {{ totalToursString }}
Common Duiker is also known as the East African Bush Duiker and is classified as a pygmy antelope species for the SCI record book. These grey to light tawny brown coloured antelope usually occur in pairs and only the males have straight upright horns.
Common Duiker flourishes in a variety of habitats and can be hunted throughout Tanzania.
Common Duiker is mostly nocturnal, resting up during the day and most like to be encountered in the early morning or at dusk. When encountering danger or an approaching hunter they may freeze before running off in a series of bouncing diving motions while heading for cover. This behaviour is believed to be the source of the name “duiker” which means “diver” in Dutch.
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special hunting permits are required. A prearranged hunting license must be arranged through your outfitter before the hunt begins.
