Civet cat hunting in Zimbabwe {{ totalToursString }}
Civet Cats are Raccoon-like in appearance but are closely related to the Mongoose and Weasel families. Their fur colouring is predominantly black and white with a grey face and the hind legs are much longer than the front legs with a long tail. African Civet Cats are solitary secretive nocturnal animals that are mostly encountered at night while out searching for food.
Civet cats rest up during the day in long grass, thickets and forested habitats close to water where they also spend much of their time in search of food. Civets can be found and hunted countrywide in Zimbabwe.
Most Civet Cats are hunted at night whilst driving around shining a spotlight in areas that permit night hunting. They are active just after sunset until early dawn when on the prowl for a meal consisting of frogs, rodents, insects, crabs, fruit, birds eggs and carrion. In some instances, they may even be hunted at Leopard bait sites
Classified as a species of least concern by the IUCN, no special export permits are required.
